Back up a seed phrase you can actually trust

Your seed phrase is the wallet. Anyone who reads it owns your coins, and losing it loses them permanently. Treat it as the single most valuable piece of paper you own.

Never do these

• Never photograph it or type it into a phone, laptop, cloud drive or password manager
• Never enter it into a website, however official the page looks
• Never read it aloud on a call or send it to "support"

Nobody legitimate will ever ask for it. Every single person who does is stealing from you.

Write it properly

Use pen on paper or, better, stamped metal. Copy the words in order and number them. Write clearly enough that a stranger could read your handwriting, because one day that stranger may be you under stress.

Make two copies and store them in two places that will not burn or flood together. A home safe plus a trusted relative's house beats two drawers in the same room.

Prove it works

Wipe the wallet and restore it from the written words while the balance is still tiny. If the same addresses come back, the backup is real. Do this once, early, and you will never wonder again.

Plan for the worst day

Leave instructions that tell someone you trust that the backup exists and where, without revealing the words themselves. Coins lost to silence are as gone as coins lost to theft.
